Locations - Lee Vally
I took a journey down to lee valley to show where we will be filming. The setting is very useful to us because it fits well with the story we are trying to tell. The bridge will be the focus point around all of the characters emotions, because it all starts and ends at the bridge. He starts to reflect on the things that he has done and how events have worked themselves up to get to this very point. This location was the ideal spot because it's rarely busy. In terms of shooting, this location makes it easier for us to move around in because of the length of space we have to shoot. We can position the camera mainly anywhere without any complications. We will see the character walk around looking lonely and dissatisfied with himself for what he has done. On the risk assessment we looked at the risks of filming in crowded areas and busy hotspots, so we found that this location was out of the way and perfect in terms of space and surroundings. The risk is very low in this area, it is neither dangerous to the safety of our actor, or the equipment we will be using.
We wanted the visuals to describe a lot of the lyrics, so that the audience could make more sense of the soundtrack. And as our target audience said, it makes the soundtrack more understandable if you make sense of it through visual display. I think the song describes the characters ambitions to become a better person, re-writing the wrongs that he’s done up until this realisation of himself. The bridge symbolises his feelings towards his wrong doings, as he throws a part of himself into the river (the knife symbolically representing his old self/ and all the evil that he identifies with). The visuals depend on the right location to bring the atmosphere of the soundtrack to life.
